Just came across this video with this FBI negotiator to help with your negotiation skills.
Thank you for sharing! A much needed skill indeed.
Definitely! I like how he refers to the person he is negotiating with as his partner as opposed to his opponent. I watched another vid with him in after this one and it was also very interesting.
He mentions emotional intelligence, yet that psychologist Jordan Peterson seems to believe it doesn't exist because of something to do with IQ tests. I agree with the negotiator on this one. I think you can be the smartest person intellectually, but if you can't relate to people and they don't get good vibes from you, it is likely they won't want to deal with you even if for mutual benefit. I guess skills are only valuable if they can be shared in some way.
Good thinking! I think you are correct.
Sometimes, I tend to think of a median between two contradicting theories, especially if both are looking at the subject matter from different view points.
The guy in one video I watched said he was talking down a terrorist who was holding someone hostage and he had killed before and had no problem with it. He said this guy tried to phone him from prison a few years later to tell him "the FBI should give him a raise because he didn't know what he said to him, but he was going to kill his hostage".
That is impressive!
